Lyric Breakdown

This is a short breakdown of what scenes and camera techniques we want to use during the song.

Update

Today we discussed our plans towards the pre-production schedule. We had to decide on location, lighting, how we are going to do our storyboard and who get signed to what. We decided that we will do our storyboard as a group and will start on it in the next lesson. We decided that a garage will be cheaper for us to hire for our video so we began to look into spaces for it however if we was to use a garage we will have to bring in our own equipment and props to dress it up. If we was to use a garage we have to consider where we want our lighting from as it does not come with lights, only natural light from the sun. We are still considering on using a warehouse for our video, however we need to start emailing places to see prices and what is available. We still have to think about risk assessment reeces, call sheets and costume.

Audience feedback for pitch

Our overall feedback for our pitch about our music video was positive. However we was questioned about our location of our music video as we want to do it in a warehouse and the prices for them may not be within our budget. People in the focus group suggested cheaper alternatives for our location such as garages and containers so we need to research into them to see if they will fit into our ideas. Our peers also suggested different websites that we can use to look into spaces and prices for our location, such as gumtree and eventspaces, so we are going to look more into that. The timing of our song was also questioned as the task says it has to be 5 minutes but our soundtrack is more than 6 minutes. This means that we have to cut out parts of the song, which is not that difficult as the song has a lot of instrumental parts. Some people were confused about our time frame as we plan to have it a mixture of her past and present but because we're going more with the conceptual idea then it's appropriate because it gives mystery and confusion. Overall we was told that our idea is creative and unique and the abstract idea is very original.

Evaluation for practice video

Evaluation for practice video
To get comfortable with the camera equipment and filming we did a practice video for the song "let it go". Evaluating the film, we realised that a lot of errors were made. One problem that we had was when we watched it back, we found that one of or main clips were out of focus which effected our final piece because we had to include a scene that wasn't in focus. When filming our actual piece we have to make sure that the camera is always focused. Another issue we had was the lip syncing was a little off at parts in the song so when we do our actual piece we have to make sure that everything is lip synced before we start putting everything fully together.  We also didn't get a wide enough range of shots, we could of included close up with different camera techniques such as panning. Our lighting in many of our shots were pretty bad, a lot of Rhea's face was shadowed out, so it was difficult to see her lip movements and facial expressions. Also at one point our shadows were seen so this is all stuff that we have to check for and make sure is correct before we start filming so that we can have a really good music video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fS5PeMq7yWs
